TikTok has risen to fame fast, ending last year as one of the world’s top 10 downloaded apps. However, February has been one of the best months for the social video sharing platform yet.

According to a report from Sensor Tower, TikTok was downloaded nearly 113 million times across the App Store and Google Play in February: 93.2 million installs were on Google Play Store while App Store generated 19.7 million downloads, less than 20 percent of the total.

February was the most impressive month yet for TikTok, recording the highest amount of downloads in a single month ever. Downloads were up 96 percent YoY, according to Sensor Tower.

The company also raked in the highest monthly revenue ever. Revenue stood at $50.4 million, up 784.2 percent YoY.

TikTok was the most downloaded non-game app of the month outperforming Facebook-owned platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.

TikTok’s popularity has been fueled by massive installs emanating from India, which accounted for 41.3 percent of total global installs.

Despite India being a key market for the app right now, the video-sharing app is also experiencing immense growth globally. In Brazil, for instance, the app was downloaded 9.7 million times, which was up 992.6 percent from February 2019.

In the US, the app continues to see growth, despite the various concerns by local regulators over privacy-related issues. The US ranked third in the number of downloads with 6.4 million installs.

With such massive installs recorded in February, TikTok is nearly hitting the 2 billion lifetime downloads mark. Sensor Tower says TikTok has accumulated almost 1.9 billion installs across Google Play and App Store.

This figure exempts other third-party Android app storefronts, which means the real lifetime installs are higher than 1.9 billion.
