Samsung Plans to Stick with The Galaxy Z name for its Future Foldables

Last week, Samsung launched a new foldable phone with a new naming scheme, unlike the first one. The Galaxy Z Fold marks a new era not only in terms of naming, but on the design front as well.

The original fold chased the tablet-like form factor that folds, but the company’s second foldable phone took a new turn. Instead of a folding tablet, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is what consumers could be really into – a folding smartphone.

“With the Z Series, we are adopting a new naming convention for our foldable portfolio that shows our commitment to expanding the category to offer a variety of experiences,” said Samsung’s Spokesperson.

Samsung says the new naming for the series sends out the idea of a folding phone while presenting a “dynamic, youthful feel.” This is signaled right from the design, which draws inspiration from a pocket beauty mirror and the colors painted on the phone.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was announced last week and will go on sale in early March. The phone will also be available in Kenya and will be sold at Ksh 160,000.
