Earlier today, HMD Global announced the availability of the Nokia 6.2 in the Kenyan market. This is one of the latest devices from the company and you can now get it in retail stores in kenya.

Price

The Nokia 6.2 has a recommended retail price of Ksh 26,500. This is pricey as in this segment it will be competing with the likes of the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, a few of the Galaxy A devices, some of the new Vivo devices and a handful of devices from OPPO.

The Nokia 6.2 is not a bad smartphone as we will see in the specifications later in this post. At this price, HMD Global has to do some aggressive marketing if it wants to sell enough units of the Nokia 6.2 in Kenya.

PureDisplay Technology

The Nokia 6.2 comes with a 6.2-inch display with a Full HD resolution. In addition to this, it features the PureDisplay technology that the company says is powered by a dedicated visual processor that delivers up to one billion shades of color. This is not the first time we are seeing this display technology on a Nokia smartphones, we have seen it before and we will see it in future devices.

“The Nokia 6.2 delivers an immersive entertainment experience for unmatched mobile viewing on the go. With a dedicated Pixelworks visual processor, Nokia 6.2 upscales video content to HDR quality in real time, with up to a billion shades of color, higher contrast and expanded dynamic range. This means you can enjoy more contrast and deeper colors watching popular shows on your favorite streaming platforms,” HMD Global said in a statement.

I have used PureDisplay technology on the Nokia 8.1 and it is really beautiful. The colours are very accurate with great reproduction with high contrast ratio.

Triple Camera Setup

HMD Global has played it safe so far and hasn’t been aggressive as other phone manufacturers in regards to the number of cameras it has on its devices. Except for the Nokia 9 PureView with 5 cameras at the back, most of its other devices have been tamed.

With the Nokia 6.2, we do get a triple camera setup at the back made up of a 16MP main one, 8MP and 5MP sensors.

“The triple camera setup that delivers detailed images, beautifully blurred bokeh portraits and wide enough shots that capture everything you want to. No matter where or when inspiration strikes, AI-powered night mode puts round-the-clock creativity in your hands for images you will want to share straight away,” said HMD Global.

Scheduled to get Android 10

As you may have seen on the specifications above, the Nokia 6.2 comes with Android 9 out of the box. You probably already know that Android 10 is out and the Nokia 6.2 is scheduled to get updated soon. HMD Global hasn’t given the date on when this will happen but that should be soon.

Since the Nokia 6.2 is an Android One phone, it should get monthly security patches from Google for three years and OS updates for two years.

Google Assistant Button

The Nokia 6.2 comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button for those who regularly use it. This button cannot be remapped in case you were wondering about that. It would have been useful if you could do that but unfortunately you can’t.
