Telegram stickers that were launched first in 2015 have been updated into more fun interactive ones. The messaging app has now been updated with a new format for animated stickers. The new high quality animated stickers as Telegram states are aimed at making communications on the platform more fun and interactive while at the same time minimizing on bandwidth usage.

With their tiny size and format, Telegram explains via their blog that their focus lied on creating the small animated stickers that would occupy less space, run smoothly and consume less battery as compared to GIFs. This was achieved through the implementation of the .TGS format which occupies about 20-30 Kilobytes – six times smaller than the average photo.

The feature is available to all versions of Telegram from 5.9. Searching the animated stickers is simple as long as you’ve added them to your sticker collection. Just type an emoji and Telegram will suggest a related animated sticker. Artists are also welcomed to create their stickers by following this official guide.
