HMD Global has expanded its smartphone portfolio in Kenya with the introduction of the Nokia 3.2. This phone was officially unveiled in the country yesterday and is available in retail stores for Ksh 13,999. I have not seen the phone online but HMD Global says those interested can get it through offline stores and even through Safaricom shops.

The Nokia 3.2 is one of the smartphones HMD Global unveiled back in February at MWC 2019. The others include the Nokia 1 Plus and the Nokia 4.2 that are already available in Kenya and the Nokia 9 PureView that will be launched in the country next month.

The Nokia 3.2, just like all the new Nokia smartphones, promises a pure and secure Android experience. The phone is scheduled to get the next two major Android updates including Android Q later this year and Android R when it is available next year. The phone will also get monthly security updates directly from Google. With two guaranteed major Android updates, if you are planning to buy this phone and then give it away after two years, you will still give it away when it is running the latest Android version at that time.

The Nokia 3.2 is here to compete with devices such as the Tecno Spark 3 Pro, Infinix S4 and the Huawei Y6 Prime 2019. These are all good devices and the competition is about to get fierce with the introduction of the Nokia 3.2. This is all good for the buyers as they will have more options to choose from and hopefully the competition will lead to lowering of the prices.

The display, battery and performance are just some of the key selling points of the Nokia 3.2. The phone has a 4,000 mAh battery that the company says should last you for at least two days. Of course this is what the company says and it will all depend on how you use your phone. The phone also has a 6.26-inch HD+ display that the company says is perfect for movies and TV shows. For performance, you get a Snapdragon 429 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space. HMD Global will give away a free 16GB MicroSD card for those who buy the Nokia 3.2.

Speaking during the announcement, Mark Misumi, HMD Business Manager East Africa said, “Owning an affordable smartphone shouldn’t lock you out of exciting features and the latest trends. We know how important a great display and two-day battery life is to many smartphone users, so we made sure we delivered on these qualities for the Nokia 3.2. And we didn’t stop there. We have put everything you expect from the latest smartphone into an affordable package, from biometric face unlock and AI-powered features like Adaptive Battery to a more modern and personal way to interact with your smartphone through the dedicated Google Assistant button. You won’t be held back by the Nokia 3.2.”

Some of the key specifications of the Nokia 3.2 are listed below:
