It looks like the smartphone megapixel war has kicked off and Infinix is one of the first smartphone manufacturers to take part in it. The company has launched the Infinix S4 which comes with a 32MP front-facing camera. I am not sure you need all that and if you know a thing or two about cameras, then you know that there is more to the camera and image quality besides the megapixel count. That aside, the megapixels still play a big role in image quality but keep in mind it is not the only determining factor.

With a 32MP selfie camera, the Infinix S4 is definitely a market shaker as it will be available for Ksh 14,999 for the one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space and Ksh 18,999 for the one with a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. On paper this sounds like a good deal but I will have to review the phone to determine if it is worth the hype. Both variants are available on pre-order in Kenya. To pre-order the phone, you will be required to pay Ksh 4,000 and you will get a gift hamper to accompany your purchase.

The selfies camera aside, the Infinix S4 has three cameras at the back. These include a 2MP one that acts as the depth sensor, an 8MP one with a wide-angle lens and a 13MP main sensor. From the few minutes I have spent with this phone, the photos are really good.

Besides the cameras, the Infinix S4 comes with some upgraded specifications that are meant to make it stand out. It is powered by the 2 GHz MediaTek Helio P22 Processor and as I have mentioned above, there are two versions, one with 3GB RAM and the other one with 6GB RAM. Both variants come with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

The Infinix S4 is the company’s first smartphone to come with a waterdrop notch, a feature we have seen on some of its competitors. The display the company used is a 6.2 inch one with a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. For the battery, we are getting a 4,000 mAh one that sounds promising.
