Jumia black Friday has kicked off. This month-long event kicked off last Friday and will go on till November 30. There are some deals you can get but keep in mind that not all products the company says are discounted are actually discounted. This does not mean that you cannot get good deals or get a chance to get a good smartphone that offers best value for money.

If you have been saving for a smartphone, this may be the time to get one. Below I have compiled a lit of the top 5 smartphones that I believe offer the best value for money. I have reviewed some of these smartphones and if that is the case, I have included a link to the review at the end of that specific device. I have also balanced the list with device from different price segments just to make sure there is something for everyone.

I have listed these smartphones from the cheapest to the most expensive and included links to Jumia at the end of each. I have also focused on 2018 smartphones only on this list.

    The Tecno Spark 2

The Tecno Spark 2 is one phone I fell in love with from the first day I got it. This is a phone that just works. It is not gimmicky and it delivers what it promises. The Tecno Spark 2 is available from Ksh 9,500 which is reasonable considering what it has to offer.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A or Redmi 6

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A is another smartphone that offers value for money. The phone is hard to find on Jumia as it is sold out most of the time but if you keep checking back, you may be lucky and find one. If you still can’t find the Xiaomi Redmi 6A on Jumia, you may want to go with the Xiaomi Redmi 6 as they are both from the same company. The Redmi 6 is slightly expensive but also offers value for money.

The phone also comes with a waterdrop notch that is not in your face as with most other smartphone notches. The OPPO F9 also comes with unique colour gradients that will definitely stand out and a 25MP selfie camera that is just amazing.

    Extras

Now that I have listed 5 smartphones that you may want to get, there are some (above Ksh 40,000) that I have not included on this list but I believe are worth getting. The three devices that I think are worth getting are the Huawei P20 Pro (Buy on Jumia), Samsung Galaxy S9+ (Buy) or Note 9 (Buy) and the Xiaomi Mi 8 (Buy).
