The Nokia 6.1 Plus is the latest device by HMD to be launched in Kenya. The company has just announced that the phone is available in the country for Ksh 31,900. This is not cheap by any standards and is right there in the territory of the OPPO F series, Huawei P20 Lite and a few other mid-range devices we have seen in the country. I will be keen to see which manufacturers wins the hearts of the customers going forward.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus was unveiled to a global audience back in July and is finally making its way to Kenya. The phone joins other devices from HMD that we have seen in the country this year. When HMD brought back the Nokia smartphones, I was not expecting the company to flood the market with new devices like it has. This is not a bad thing as Nokia phones are some of the few smartphones that I feel are built to acceptable standards compared to what we get from the many Chinese manufacturers that have flooded the local market.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is just the Nokia X6 and the name you get depends on the market you are in. In Kenya, we are getting the Nokia 6.1 and it joins the Nokia 5.1 and its cousin the Nokia 6.1. These are successors to the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 from 2017. These first smartphones were not the best but the company has improved a lot since then.
Below are the key specifications of the Nokia 6.1 Plus.
