For those who are looking for a new TV, you may have heard or seen the word ‘OLED’ a couple of times and if that is the case, you may have also heard about what LG has to offer. The first OLED TV by LG was first launched back in 2013 and the company has released quite a number of OLED TVs ever since.

Right now, LG has 5 different OLED TV ranges for you to choose from. These are available in different sizes and at different prices for consumers to find exactly what works for them. So, which one should you choose? What do the different OLED TVs have to offer?

Difference Between 2018 LG OLED TVs

This year, LG has five different OLED TV ranges as I have mentioned above. There is the B8 series which is the entre-level line, this is followed by the C8, E8, G8 and the W8. You may have heard about the W8 which is the wallpaper TV known for its water-thin design.

All the new LG OLED TVs for 20118 from the C8 to W8 comes with the custom-built Alpha 9 picture processor. The B8 series is the only exception as it comes with the Alpha 7 processor from last year. According to LG, the new Alpha 9 processor improves the sharpness, colour reproduction, depth enhancement and noise reduction.

Besides the processor, the new LG OLED TVs for 2018 support for a wide range of HDR formats including Dolby Vision, Advanced HDR by Technicolor, HLG and HDR10. The OLED panel technology used on the new LG TVs is pretty much the same on the different models and aesthetics and speaker set-up are some of the differences you get between the models. Some of the models are using built-in speakers while the others handle the audio through a separate soundbar.

The W8 is one model that uses a separate sound bar. It is the thinnest model and is supposed to hang on a wall just like a picture frame and it makes sense for it to have external soundbars.

Which one should you choose between the LG C8 and B8

These are the two affordable models of the new OLED TVs. The B8 is the cheapest and some people may be forced to chose that for that particular reason but the C8 comes with some improvements that are worth the extra amount. Some of these improvements have to do with the picture quality, detail, contrast, colour and clarity. If these are the things you have always wanted, this is the TV to get.

    LG C8 Vs E8

The biggest differences between the C8 and E8 is in the sound, design, and screen sizes available. The C8 model is available in 55, 65 and 77-inch configurations while the E8 can be only be found in the 65-inch and 55-inch variants. As for sound, the C8 has down firing speakers while the E8 has the front facing speakers and should thus offer a better audio experience. The total audio power output of the C8 is 40 watts while the output on the E8 is 60 watts.

Below are some of the differences between the speakers of the C8 and E8.

    SPEAKERS 2 Full Range Drivers
    2 Sub-woofers
    2 Tweeters
    2 Mid Range drivers
    2 Sub-woofers
    DIRECTION Down-firing Front-firing
NUMBER OF CHANNELS 2.2 Channel 4.2 Channel
TOTAL AUDIO POWER OUTPUT 40 Watts 60 Watts

    The LG W8

The LG W8 is known for its Wallpaper-thin design, hidden wires, included soundbar hosts connections and is designed for wall-mounting. It comes with the alpha 9 processor and is available in 65 and 77-inch configurations. This is the top of the line TV by the company and brings with it all the improvements that we saw with the W7 from 2017.
