If you have subscribed to GOtv Plus or GOtv Value, you should be prepared to pay a few shillings more as from April. The company will be making price adjustments to these bouquets by a tiny bit and since these are not massive changes, I do not expect many people to complain. Even with that said, I still expect the people who see GOtv as being pricey not to be happy with the changes.

GOtv Plus subscribers should be ready to pay Ksh 749 per month up from Ksh 699 that they are currently paying. This is a 7% increase that isn’t that steep in my opinion. GOtv Value subscribers on the other hand will be paying Ksh 499 per month, up from Ksh 470 that they are currently paying. This is a 6% increase which is also not that much.

The other two bouquets, GOtv Lite and GOtv Max, will remain unchanged. GOtv Lite subscribers are currently paying Ksh 260 per month while GOtv Max subscribers are paying Ksh 1299 every month.

There is no clear reason for this change but the company says that they are necessitated by the rising costs in providing the service (GOtv). This is a vague explanation but that is the best we have so far and probably the only one we will be getting.

GOtv is a multichoice-owned company together with DSTv. The latter has implemented price changes over the years so this move by GOtv is not surprising. Even though the two are owned by the same company, DSTv has not said anything about a price hike. With that said, it is important to know that DSTv South Africa plans to increase its subscription costs by between 2-5% as from April this year. Will we be seeing the same in Kenya? It doesn’t look like it at the moment.
