    Samsung outlines Its 2018 strategy for East Africa

    Samsung is re-aligning its business operations in Africa as part of its wider plans to enhance its market share. Addressing business partners during the firm’s 2018 Summit for the region, President & CEO of Samsung Electronics Africa, Sung Yoon has said the firm plans to centralize its operations and resources to be able to introduce greater levels of efficiency on the continent, while focusing more significantly on product, sales and marketing functions.

    The CEO called on establishment of long term partnerships that enhance business growth for all stakeholders in the industry. He said that there was need to focus more on quality entry level models to boost the uptake of the Samsung brand in the market.

    “We are here to offer all the support needed to ensure that all of us are able to record profitable growth by enhancing constant communication and feedback on the market needs”, Yoon noted. He acknowledged that the influx of cheaper mobile products in the region was a major challenge in the sector, but stated that Samsung would always focus on giving consumers quality product. He indicated the need for the research and development division to constantly develop products that are market-specific while considering the continent challenges such as erratic power outages and water scarcity.

    He said part of their strategy for 2018 is to continuously place greater emphasis on offering quality products that meet consumers’ expectations and demands. He noted that a great lineup of products for both Consumer Electronics as well as Internet and Mobile have been developed to address the consumer needs in terms of simless connectivity, efficiency, taking into consideration the environment in terms of carbon emission.

    “We remain committed to all of the markets in which we operate in terms of providing high level of service and support to our customers. We continue to invest in the continent through our corporate citizenship programs in education, health, entrepreneurship and the environment. In using technology to help address social challenges like Education & Health in Africa, we believe we can make a genuine contribution to our future global society
