Tecno is planning to launch its next camera-centric device, the Tecno Camon CM, very soon. The phone is expected to launch as early as this week in Nigeria but in Kenya we will have to wait a little longer. Even with that said, I expect to see this phone over here before the end of this month (January).

Tecno hasn’t shared much about this smartphone so far and the company is only teasing the 18:9 aspect ratio that the phone will have. This will be the first smartphone from the company with a Full View display. We saw this trend last year on devices from Samsung, LG and others but most of the devices that had it were the premium ones. This year, we will be seeing this technology on affordable devices and Tecno definitely does not want to be left behind.

Back to the selfie camera of the Tecno Camon CM, it will be a 13MP one that the company hopes will improve your selfie game. The company’s most recent flagship, the Tecno Phantom 8, had good cameras and I expect that from the Camon CM too. Tecno will be positioning this device as a selfie phone and not necessarily a camera-centric phone. With many phone buyers interested in phones with really good selfie cameras, I get why Tecno chose this route. Even with that, I expect that main camera, which is a 13MP unit, to be good as well. This is quite different from other Camon devices that Tecno launched before. With these, the back camera was always the star of the show.

As I have mentioned above, Tecno hasn’t shared much about the Camon CM, its price and availability in Kenya but I do have some of the specs we will be seeing on this phone. These are listed below.

    Display

    5.65 inches

    Platform

    Android OS, v7.0 (Nougat)

    Processor

    1.3GHz MediaTek 6737H (qUAD cORE)

    Storage

    32 GB, 3 GB RAM

    Camera

13MP at the back, 13MP front

    Extra

    Fingerprint scanner, VoLTE support

    Battery

    3500mAh Li-Ion battery

The specifications listed above are the ones we know about, we should learn more in the coming hours or days. I will update you on those once I get them.

In the meantime, you can check out my review of the OPPO F5 that has a an 18:9 aspect ratio.
