A couple of days ago, Apple officially released iOS 11 to the public. With this release, the company updated its Developer’s Blog with news that it has raised the limit of the size of applications that can be downloaded from its App Store over cellular networks.

According to Apple, with iOS 11, the limit has been raised from 100MB to 150MB. This means that you can download any app that is 150MB in size or less over a cellular network.

We’ve increased the cellular download limit from 100 MB to 150 MB, letting customers download more apps from the App Store over their cellular network.

It is quite interesting that Apple is limiting the size of apps you can download over cellular networks. I get this is to save data for users but then again, shouldn’t there just be a warning then an option for users to choose if they want to download a large file using mobile data or not? I mean, if I have a huge app that I want and do not have an active Wi-Fi connection, shouldn’t I get a warning that the app is huge? From there, shouldn’t there be an option to proceed or cancel the process? It should be up to the user.
