This article has been updated with new information, check it out at the very end.

Early this year, Nokia officially re-entered the smartphone market thanks to HMD Global. For those who do not know, HMD Global owns the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights for mobile phones. With that said, you should not be confused when you see HMD Global when we are talking about Nokia.

Back to the new Nokia phones, they will be launched in Nigeria on July 25. The company has already sent out invites to the event it will be having in Lagos next week on Tuesday. The invite does not specify which Nokia phones will be unveiled in the country but I expect all the new ones that include the new Nokia 3310, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.

    Below is the invite.

HMD Global is yet to reveal how much these phones will retail at as that would have given us clue about their price when we get them in Kenya. Speaking of Kenya, the company hasn’t said anything about the availability of the new Nokia phones in the country. I have reached out to their Global communication team and I am yet to get any response as of right now. I will update you if and when that changes.

You can get some of the new Nokia phones in the country through some retailers but officially the company is yet to re-enter this market. I just hope that it has not forgotten about us as this was one of its biggest markets in Africa.

    Update

HMD Global got back to me through their PR agency and have informed me that the new Nokia phones will be available in Kenya as from Thursday next week. You can read more about that here.
