Xiaomi has just shown the world that big smartphones are still worth buying. The company has unveiled the Mi Max 2 that takes over from the Xiaomi Mi Max that was launched in 2016. Just like the first Mi Max, the Mi Max 2 is quite massive with almost every aspect being big, bigger that what you get on a conventional smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a 6.44 inch display that is quite big by any standard. Besides this size, the phone looks more like an iPhone 7 Plus, a stretched out one. Xiaomi has long been known to borrow a few things from Apple so I was not surprised to see how similar the design is to that of the iPhone 7 Plus. We are not going to be hard on Xiaomi for this as this design is similar to the one it used on the original Mi Max so we can say it borrows from that and not from the iPhone.

The design out of the way, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has some amazing specifications. The 6.44 inch display has a Full HD resolution, some people may find this low for their liking but I think it is enough. Most people would be fine with it unless they are into VR gaming. Powering this smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage space.

For the camera, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a 12MP Sony IMX386 camera, with phase detection Auto Focus and a 1.25 micrometer large-pixel sensor. It has a 5,300 mAh battery that the company says can give you up to 2 days of use depending on your usage. This battery supports quick charging and you can get it to 68% in just an hour.

For price, the 64GB variant is available for $250 (approximately Ksh 26,000) while the 128GB model is available for $290 (approximately Ksh 30,000).
