Firefox For Android Update Makes It Possible to View Web Pages Offline

Mozilla has just updated Firefox for Android to version 49 which brings it a number of improvements and features to the browser.

The biggest change that Firefox 49 brings is the ability to view web pages even when offline or are having a weak connection. All you have to do is save the web page when you have an active connection and you will be able to access it when your connection is not stable. You can also use this feature to save web pages for offline viewing if you are busy and want to come back to that page later when you have time to read what is on it.

Mozilla says that this feature will work with many webpages but how effective it will work depend on your device’s specs. This means that some users may not get it to work as smoothly as others. I just hope the company will work on alternative for these users.

Besides the ability to view web pages offline, this update also brings some other features to Firefox for Android including Firefox Login Manager that allows HTTPS pages to use saved HTTP logins.

With this new version, Mozilla has also updated the media controls so as to avoid playing sounds from multiple tabs at the same time. This is the part of the changes in tab appearance and behavior that will now hide outdated tabs if you have the restore tab setting set to “Always restore.” Besides these two, the update also changes the way favicons are displayed.

The update also improves the reader mode a bit, “This update also brings two improvements to Reader Mode. This feature strips away clutter like buttons, ads and background images, and changes the page’s text size, contrast and layout for better readability. Now we’re adding the option for the text to be read aloud, which means Reader Mode will narrate your favorite articles, allowing you to listen and browse freely without any interruptions.”

The developers at Mozilla have also said there are other changes that will be coming to the browser very soon.
