Thought a Smartphone with 6GB of RAM is Too Much? Apparently LeEco is Working on One with 8GB RAM

With stiff competition in the smartphone market, manufacturers have to do all they can to differentiate their products from those offered by competitors. LeEco is one company that is working hard to ensure it is always the first to bring some features into the smartphone space. Four months ago, the company unveiled the LeEco Le Max 2 which was the first smartphone with 6GB of RAM.

6GB of RAM on smartphones is still considered massive but you have to know that the company is targeting Chinese consumers with this and they tend to go for beefier devices over standard ones. In China, it is pretty much normal to see manufacturers releasing devices with 3 and 4GB of RAM and LeEco wants to differentiate itself from the rest and that is why it decided to unveil one with 6GB of RAM.

Well, if you thought that LeEco is done, you are wrong. Apparently the company is working on a smartphone with 8GB of RAM. This is unbelievable considering that not all manufacturers out there have 3/4GB RAM smartphones as of now. These variants are still considered premium variants that only a few manufacturers have on some of their high end models.

This smartphone with 8GB of RAM will be the LeEco Le 2s that rumors are suggesting will be unveiled early next month (September). Below are the photos of what is believed to be the LeEco Le 2s.

Besides the 8GB of RAM, LeEco will also include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 64 GB of internal storage space on the Le 2s. The phone is expected to have a 5.5-inch display probably with a QHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution. these are just the specs that we know so far, LeEco has managed to keep this phone under wraps but September is not that far away and that is when we will see the phone.

Even with LeEco setting the pace, am not sure we will be seeing other 8GB RAM smartphones anytime soon, at least not this year. We may see one or two of them next year but even then they will not be many. Who even needs 8GB RAM on a smartphone anyway?

N/B: Just in case you were wondering, the iPhone 6s Plus has just 2GB of RAM.
