Samsung has an event scheduled for August 2nd and we expect the company to unveil its next Note device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It is rumored that Samsung plans to skip number 6 as it goes directly to 7 with it next Galaxy Note device. For the last few weeks, we have been seeing rumors and leaks about the Note 7 and you should expect this to be the case as we get close to its launch (August 2).

For security, we are hearing that Samsung plans to include an Iris scanner on the Galaxy Note 7. We heard about this a few weeks ago but we were just not sure about it until now. Samsung is partnering with Patron to supply it with the sensors to include on the Note 7.

It is reported that Patron won the bid a few months ago but we are only getting this information right now. Microsoft included an Iris scanner on the Lumia 950 smartphone last year and it looks like other manufacturers are finally catching up.

Patron will be the only company supplying Samsung with the biometric modules. They will then be mounted around the front facing camera to allow users to unlock their phones by just looking at them. With this feature, you don’t have to type your password every time. I didn’t have a smooth experience with the Iris scanner on the Lumia 950 and I hope Patron does a much better job.

One other unique thing that we have heard about the Galaxy Note 7 is its dual curved display that you will be able to write on. This will be an interesting feature to have and we will have to wait a few more months to see what this is all about.
