Last night, HTC officially unveiled its new mid-range smartphone, the HTC One A9. Much attention was drawn to this smartphone, not because of its similarity to the iPhone, but because this smartphone comes with some premium specs but is not as expensive.

As it was unveiling this smartphone, HTC revealed that this phone will always get the latest Android OS updates 15 days after the Nexus devices get theirs. If you know already, Nexus devices are usually first in line to get the latest Android updates when they are available.

Through Twitter, the company said,

Since the HTC One A9 will get these updates 15 days later, it will essentially be among the first devices to get the latest Android updates. Most devices, even the flagship ones from the top manufacturers, always get the latest updates more than six weeks after the updates are released by Google.

HTC is hoping this strategy will help it with the sales for the One A9 but that is hard to predict at the moment. Of course everyone wants the latest Android updates but that is not the only thing people will look at, the specs and a few other things will determine this.

At this point, the HTC One A9 will attract the core Android fans but for the ordinary customers who do not care so much for the latest OS updates, HTC will have to convince them through other ways.
