By now, you have probably heard that BlackBerry has plans to use Android OS on its next flagship device. If you haven’t, read more of that below.

Read: BlackBerry May Soon Release a Smartphone Powered By Android OS

BlackBerry has not said anything official about this but they most probably will release the Android device given that their latest OS, BlackBerry 10 has not been that successful. This will be the first time that BlackBerry has fully embraced Android and I for one would be very interested to see how that turns out.

It is now alleged that the BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android will be launched later in August this year. The phone is believed to be a low end one similar to the BlackBerry Z3 that was launched last year. Focusing on a low end device would make sense for the company as it would help push more sales to those customers not keen brands.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors and neither BlackBerry nor Google (Android) have commented on it. I will keep you informed on any changes and developments on this issue.
