Last week, Facebook’s video calling feature was rolled to all users of Facebook Messenger on Android and iOS devices. When it rolled out to all users, Facebook Messenger voice calling did not have a caller ID feature. This will all change as Facebook is adding the Caller ID feature to its Messenger app.

At least you will now know who is calling you before you pick up. This saves you the awkwardness you would have experienced if you answer a call from someone you do not want to talk to.

Commenting on the latest developments, Facebook’s David Marcus, VP of Messaging Products said, “Now you’ll have context about the people contacting you on Messenger with a bigger photo and more details about how you’re related, and much more.”

With Facebook’s messenger caller ID, you will be able to know more about the person calling you and not just his/her name. The feature will also give you a few extra details about him/her including the public information listed on Facebook, data such as work, where they live and work.

This feature has just started rolling out in the US, UK, France and India with other markets to get it at a later date. No Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) has been announced about this feature for other markets around the world. My best guess is that this feature will be available in other markets before the end of the year.
