Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 Update Confirmed By Microsoft Developer Page

Microsoft’s official Developer site has revealed information as to what we should expect from  Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 (General Distribution Release) update. This will probably be the last update before Windows 10 roll in later this year.

This latest update will take over from the Windows Phone 8.1 Update (GDR1) that was released in July last year.

Some of the features that will come with the update include:

  1. Video over LTE
  2. More phone languages including Kiswahili
  3. Restore Start tile layout
  4. Use voice domain for emergency call branding

It is not clear why Microsoft will spend time building such a small update instead on building Windows 10. We are also not sure when the update will be available to end users but Microsoft will have an event at MWC 2015 (next month) so we will know more then.
