The Samsung Z1 is the new Smartphone from Samsung that has got people talking. The Samsung Z1 was launched in India and is running on Tizen, and not Android. Samsung has been trying to push Tizen OS but we had not seen any progress until the Z1 was unveiled a few days ago.

From the sales figures we have seen, the Samsung Z1 has been received well. Samsung is said to have sold over 50,000 Z1 units in just 10 days since it hit the market. This may not be great but considering the Samsung Z1 uses Tizen (a new platform), it’s not that bad. It is also important to note that these numbers are just for India, the only country where the Z1 is currently being sold.

Commenting on the sales figure of the Z1, Samsung is quoted saying, “the sales volume of the Z1 exceeded our expectations.”

The Samsung Z1 is retailing at $92 (approximately Kshs. 8,300) and is meant for emerging markets. It has low-end specs as you would expect. To separate the Z1 from the pack, Samsung says that it offers a unique Tizen UI, it has a long battery life and has local-targeted content that include live TV and movies.

Samsung is expected to push the Z1 to other emerging markets but the exact date of when it will do this in unknown.
