Samsung is about to unveil a new high-end Smartphone next month. Of course the company has not conformed this but insiders in the company have been on this story ever since the Galaxy S5 came out. We thought this Smartphone will be referred to as the Samsung Galaxy S5 prime but the insiders are leaning to either the Galaxy Alpha or the Galaxy F as the names.

According to a source who spoke to a South Korean site ETnews.com, this new metallic Smartphone will be unveiled next month on August 13. Launching it on this date is to put it head to head with the iPhone that may be unveiled at around the same time or a few weeks later. Using a metal chasis in place of the usual faux leather on the Galaxy Alpha/F further helps it compete with the iPhone.

Not much of the specs are know at this time with some suggesting that the Galaxy Alpha will have a 4.7-inch 1080p screen while others suggesting a 5.2-5.3 inch QHD. Even with varying screen size suggestions, everyone involved points out that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have Samsung’s premium Super AMOLED tech and razor thin bezels.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Alpha will have a Snapdragon 805 similar to the one on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A variant. This is all we know right now but expect more information as we get closer to the August 13 date.
