With the Galaxy S5 turning four months old, Samsung has decided to unveil its little brother, the Galaxy S5 Mini. This device was announced a few hours ago by Samsung and comes in as being the third generation Mini device from the Korean Electronics company.

The Galaxy S5 Mini has a smaller 4.5 inch super AMOLED screen with 720p resolution giving a pixel density of 326ppi. Looking at the measurements the S5 Mini is not so bad coming in at 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm and weighing 120g. This is slightly bigger and heavier compared to the Galaxy S4 Mini that was 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm and weighed 107g.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S5 mini has a 1.4GHz quad core processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a MicroSD card. These may not be high-end specs but they are still nice compared to most other mini Smartphones in the market.

In terms of connectivity, the S5 mini will support 3G, LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Just like the Galaxy S5, the mini will be dust proof and water resistant, will have Ultra Power Saving mode, a heart rate monitor, and fingerprint scanner.

The camera of the S5 Mini will be 8MP for the main one and 2.1MP for the front facing one.

At launch, the S5 mini will be available in four colours “Charcoal Black”, “Shimmery White”, “Electric Blue”, and “Copper Gold”.  This device will launch in Russia this month before making way to other global markets.  We will know more about the price when the device launches officially.
