Nokia Keeps Its Promise And Launches 3 Lumia Smartphones, The Lumia 930, Lumia 630 And Lumia 635

Nokia seems to be having a busy year launching new Smartphones with each passing day. Just a few weeks ago, the company unveiled its first Android powered Smartphones, the Nokia X, Nokia XL and Nokia X+. It is too early at this time to tell whether these devices will  help Nokia in any way. The company on its part is not sitting around and enjoy the fruits of its labour as it is busy working on new devices that it will launch this year.

3 of the Smartphones the company has been rumoured to be working on for a long time have been unveiled today at an event held by Microsoft. The three Lumia Smartphones are the Lumia 930, Lumia 630 and Lumia 635.

The Lumia 930 will be the leader of the pack with a bigger 5-inch 1080p display. It will also have a 20 MP camera with optical stabilization. Am not surprised to see this camera on a Lumia Smartphone as Nokia is known to break all the boundaries when it comes to camera technology on their Smartphones. The Lumia 930 will be powered by a 2.2 GHz snapdragon 800 processor which is not bad at all. The retail price of the Lumia 930 will be around $600 (approximately Kshs. 51,900).

The Lumia 630 and 635 will have a many similar specs with very few differences. To start with, they will both have 4.5-inch screens (slightly smaller compared to the Lumia 930). The Lumia 635 will only have single SIM option while the Lumia 630 will have both single SIM and dual SIM variants. The Lumia 635 will support 4G LTE connectivity while the 630 will only support 3G.  Both these Smartphones will have a 1.2 GHz processor under the hood.

Nokia refers to these two as the new low cost Smartphones and my guess is that they are here to replace the very successful Lumia 520.

The single SIM Lumia 630 variant will retail at $159 (Kshs. 14,000) while the dual SIM one goes for $169 (Kshs. 15,000). The Lumia 635 on the other hand will cost you $189 (Kshs. 16,400). Availability will be from May 2014.
