Safaricom Posts Impressive End Year Results

Kenya’s biggest network operator, Safaricom, has today posted a pre-tax profit of Kshs. 25.5 Billion which represents an increase of 47% compared to the same period last year. The profit after tax went up by 39% to stand at Kshs. 17.5 billion.

These results will see the company issue the largest dividend of Kshs. 0.31 per share to its shareholders representing an increase of 41% from what was issued last year.

The company also saw its subscriber base increase from 19.07 Million to 19.42 million which is an increase of 1.84%.

According to Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore, “These solid results re-affirm our strategy to transform lives through the provision of quality services, delivering the best network in Kenya through our continued investment in technology and deepening financial inclusion, with services such as M-Shwari on the M-PESA platform.”

Currently, the company has plans to roll out its own fibre network at a cost of Kshs. 10 billion.
