When it comes to taxi hailing services in Kenya, we see most companies focus their efforts in the major towns of Nairobi and Mombasa. Rarely do we see these companies operate outside these major towns but this may be changing soon. Bolt is one ride-hailing company that seems to be interested in expanding to other markets outside Nairobi and Mombasa. Back in July, the company announced that its services were available in Kisumu, Kakamega and Thika towns. Fast forward a few months later and Bolt has announced expansion to 4 more towns. These include Naivasha, Nakuru, Kitale and Eldoret towns.…

Even as the Cybersecurity industry grows, there are not that many women in that field. This can be attributed to many reasons from young girls being discouraged by their teachers, parents etc from venturing into the field. The end result is you have most of them getting into careers they did not like to begin with and leaving the field to be dominated by men. The gap is not just in Kenya but it is something seen globally according to Hayden Hainsworth, General Manager for Cybersecurity Engineering at Microsoft. She says that even now, she gets into meetings and she…

The Huawei P30 Lite is one of my favorite phones of 2019. It is reasonably priced considering what it has to offer and came at a time when there was not so much competition within its price category. Huawei says they have sold over 10,000 units since its launch 6 months ago and this is not a bad number considering the bad press the company received the latter part of the year thanks to the US-China trade war. With the success of the P30 Lite, the company is back with a new version of the phone that it is calling…

The Tecno Spark 4 is now available in Kenya. This is the successor to the Spark 3 from earlier this year and is available in the country for Ksh 11,999. This is around the same price the Spark 3 was available for when it launched. The Tecno Spark 4 is a slight upgrade when compared to its predecessor which was launched in the country earlier this year. It has a slightly bigger 6.52-inch display with a waterdrop notch. The company says this phone has a screen to body ratio of 90%, quite impressive and not something we see often on…

Instagram has always been mobile-first from the beginning. The company has put so much work on its mobile apps but the same can’t be said when talking about its desktop app. It has limited functionality that make it usable for anyone who just wants to scroll through their feed and has no plans to doing much. For those who want messaging when using Instagram on their computers, that option is coming soon. I honestly did not expect this feature to be available on desktop ever as earlier this year Instagram rolled out a standalone messaging app and killed it a…

Showmax added Live sports content on its platform not so long ago and it has been good so far. In addition to this, the platform also has recorded sports content for those who may have missed a game for some reason. All this live content is available at not extra charge on your existing Showmax subscription. I took advantage to the Ksh 1000 per year offer when it was active and it is hard to imagine I can enjoy some Live sports content as part of that. Showmax is still selective on the Live content it has on its platform…
