Vertiv has announced plans to expand its chiller manufacturing and testing capabilities at its Tognana campus near Padua, Italy. The aim is to meet the growing demand for AI-ready data centre cooling infrastructure.
By the end of 2026, the company aims to double the site’s chiller production capacity and complete a new large-scale testing laboratory by early 2027. The investment will help support the growing thermal needs of high-density AI workloads, as well as create new jobs across the campus.
The new testing facility will allow Vertiv to validate the performance of large-scale chillers integrated with liquid cooling systems under high-density computing loads and extreme temperature conditions. The company says this will help customers deploy increasingly complex cooling systems faster and with greater confidence.
“AI is driving thermal demands that didn’t exist two years ago, with higher densities, faster deployment demands, and no room to compromise on reliability,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “The expansion at Tognana puts us further ahead with more manufacturing capacity, integrated testing, and advanced thermal management systems built for current and future generations of silicon.”
The Tognana campus is one of Vertiv’s primary centres for cooling technology development, bringing together research and development, manufacturing, product management and customer testing. Alongside its facility in Castel Guelfo, the site also serves as one of the company’s key European technology hubs and a training centre for technicians and partners across the EMEA region.
