Flutterwave has announced a strategic investment from Ripple, a global provider of blockchain-based enterprise financial solutions. The investment forms part of Flutterwave’s Series E fundraising round. This values the company at $3.2 billion.
By embedding Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into its ecosystem, Flutterwave aims to streamline settlement processes and eliminate traditional inefficiencies in international payments.

The company says the integration will allow African businesses to bypass legacy financial bottlenecks, including multi-day settlement delays and high foreign exchange costs, replacing them with faster, more predictable and lower-cost transactions.
The Flutterwave–Ripple collaboration is structured around three key integration pillars:
First, RLUSD will be embedded into Flutterwave’s payment rails and Send App remittance corridors as a primary settlement asset for high-volume transactions.
Second, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) will be used to enhance transaction speed and efficiency in clearing payments across borders.
Third, a unified API layer will connect Flutterwave’s domestic payment network with Ripple Payments. This will enable seamless interoperability between local African payment systems and global blockchain-based infrastructure.
Together, these components aim to merge traditional payment methods such as bank transfers, mobile wallets, and card payments with blockchain-powered settlement rails to deliver real-time liquidity and improved cost efficiency.
Flutterwave Founder and CEO Olugbenga “GB” Agboola described the investment as a transformative moment for the company’s long-term vision.
“This investment marks a pivotal moment in our journey, enabling us to significantly scale our infrastructure and expand our stablecoin-enabled payments roadmap,” Agboola said. “We are building a payment superhighway that connects African commerce directly to the global economy.”
Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, Reece Merrick, said, “Our investment will establish RLUSD within that infrastructure, with Flutterwave driving stablecoin flows over the XRPL and deepening its role as a settlement layer for real-world payments across the continent.”
