Absa Bank Kenya’s Q1 2026 profit after tax rose to KSh 5.3 billion. The bank delivered a Return on Equity of 20.3%.

Customer deposits rose by 8% to KSh 399.1 billion, while net loans and advances stood at KSh 303.8 billion. Total assets grew by 10% to KSh 571.3 billion, underlining the bank’s strong balance sheet position.

Speaking on the results, Managing Director and CEO Abdi Mohamed noted that the quarter was shaped by broader economic challenges.

“It has been a demanding period for our customers and the broader economy, but our focus has been on standing alongside those we serve. While our performance reflects these pressures, our actions are guided by a long-term view, supporting our customers today while safeguarding the strength of our business for the future,” he said.

Absa reported total revenue of KSh 14.7 billion during the quarter, supported by disciplined cost-of-funds management in a lower interest rate environment. Net interest income came in at KSh 10.4 billion, while non-interest income contributed KSh 4.3 billion.

The bank remains a key sponsor of flagship events such as the Magical Kenya Open, Absa Sirikwa Classic, and Absa Kip Keino Classic, which play a role in strengthening customer engagement and brand visibility.

On the sustainability front, the Absa Kenya Foundation launched the CirculaRising programme, targeting over 2,000 women- and youth-led MSMEs in the circular economy, with the potential to impact more than 30,000 livelihoods.

The bank is doubling down on digital transformation, customer experience and strategic partnerships as it positions itself for long-term growth.

“Underpinned by our purpose of empowering Africa’s tomorrow, this set of results illustrates the strength of our franchise and the deliberate execution of our strategy in a dynamic market,” Mohamed added.
