NBA Africa has announced the five prize-winning startups from the second edition of the NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator, a program designed to support Africa’s growing technology ecosystem and the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The winners were unveiled on December 5 during a Demo Day held at Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) in Kigali, Rwanda. The accelerator attracted over 700 applications from startups across 32 African countries. Out of all applicants, 10 finalists were selected to pitch their solutions to a panel of international industry leaders.

The five winning startups come from Morocco, Egypt, and Nigeria and span sectors including sports performance, fitness, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and digital content distribution.

All five companies received financial support and earned a place in CMU-Africa’s 12-month Business Incubation Program under its Innovation Hub. The program helps early-stage African startups turn prototypes and early market insights into scalable, market-ready products and services, with support valued at up to $70,000.

In addition, the top three startups each received $10,000 in API credits and an exclusive immersion day with the OpenAI engineering team at OpenAI’s headquarters.

    The Winning Startups

First place went to Reborn (Morocco), a sports performance analytics platform that provides athletes with detailed insights into their physical condition and on-field performance. Reborn received $25,000 in cash, entry into CMU-Africa’s Business Incubation Program, $10,000 in API credits, and an immersion day with OpenAI engineers.

Second place was awarded to Fitclan (Egypt). This is a digital fitness hub that offers flexible subscription models for individuals and corporate clients. The startup received $15,000 in cash, incubation support from CMU-Africa, $10,000 in API credits and an OpenAI immersion experience.

Third place went to Athlon Technology (Egypt), which uses mobile technology and AI-powered video analysis to serve amateur and budget-constrained sports teams. Athlon received $5,000 in cash, access to CMU-Africa’s incubation program, $10,000 in API credits, and an OpenAI immersion day.

Fourth place winner Atsur (Nigeria) leverages blockchain technology to promote investment in African art while supporting artists and creative communities. Atsur received $2,500 in cash and entry into CMU-Africa’s Business Incubation Program.

Fifth place went to Songdis (Nigeria), a digital distribution platform providing services tailored for African independent artists and record labels. Songdis also received $2,500 in cash and incubation support from CMU-Africa.

    Strong Partner Support

The Demo Day judging panel included CMU-Africa Director Dr. Conrad Tucker, OpenAI Africa Lead Emmanuel Lubanzadio, and ServiceNow Africa Vice President and Managing Director Cheick Camara, alongside Head of Strategy and Operations Nikki van Gasse.

The accelerator is supported by CMU-Africa, ServiceNow and OpenAI. ALX Ventures is serving as the official operating partner for the second consecutive year.

Commenting on the announcement, NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi said the quality of solutions showcased by the finalists highlights the innovation shaping the future of sport and entertainment on the continent.

She noted that the support provided through the Triple-Double Accelerator will help the winning startups scale their products and create long-term impact in Africa and beyond.
