    TLcom Partner Ido Sum Departs After 14 Years

    TLcom Capital has confirmed that Partner Ido Sum is leaving the firm after 14 years. 

    Sum contributed to the firm’s expansion across Africa’s startup ecosystem during his time at TLcom. He also played a role in strengthening the firm’s regional presence through its offices in Nairobi and Lagos.

    TLcom Capital was founded in 1999. The firm manages the TIDE Fund I and TIDE Fund II, with the latter closing as one of the continent’s largest early-stage funds. These funds have supported startups in a number of sectors including edtech, fintech. and logistics, helping them scale within Africa’s fast-evolving digital economy.

    Reflecting on his departure, Sum said, “I am proud of what we have built at TLcom over the last 14 years. It has been a privilege to work alongside such a talented team and to have supported and worked side-by-side with some of Africa’s most audacious entrepreneurs. I am confident that the firm will continue to lead the investment pack, and I look forward to my next chapter.”
