Vertiv appointed International Power Control Systems (IPCS) as its official distribution partner in Malawi.

IPCS will distribute Vertiv’s full range of solutions, including single-phase and three-phase AC power systems, surge protection devices, integrated racks and cabinets, and IT infrastructure management tools.

Rumbidzai Bere, business development and marketing director at IPCS, said the partnership will enhance IPCS’s portfolio, enabling it to deliver scalable and reliable infrastructure. “The combination of IPCS’s experience in power control and renewable energy and Vertiv’s innovative solutions, such as lithium-ion compatible UPS systems, will bring a new layer of reliability and efficiency to organisations in Malawi,” Bere noted.

Gary Chomse, Vertiv’s regional director for Central and Southern Africa, called the collaboration a strategic alignment with a respected local partner. “This is proof of our presence, commitment, and investment in the Malawian power control, data centre infrastructure, and alternative energy sectors,” he said.

The partnership aligns with the Government of Malawi’s National Compact for Energy, which aims to increase electricity access to 70% of the population by 2030. Reliable power and robust IT infrastructure will be key in supporting new industries, encouraging innovation, and enabling wider internet adoption.

80% of malawi’s population under the age of 35 with a rising base of tech-savvy citizens expected to drive demand for advanced data centre solutions, AI-powered services, and secure digital platforms.

This move follows Vertiv’s restructuring of its Africa operations to better address regional market needs. In Central and Southern Africa, Vertiv operates under Chomse’s leadership from Johannesburg.

There is demand for critical digital infrastructure across the continent as governments and businesses expand data centre capacity to meet the needs of cloud services, AI adoption, and e-commerce platforms.
