
Truecaller just crossed 100 million users in the Middle East and Africa bringing safer, smarter mobile experiences to a growing wave of smartphone users across the region.
Truecaller, the caller ID and spam-blocking app, has officially surpassed 100 million monthly active users across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). This is a19% growth from the same period last year.
Truecaller’s caller ID & Spam Blocking feature makes it easier for users filter out unwanted calls. They can easily identify who is calling before they answer even if the individual is not in their contact list. Its mobile-first design is also tailored for markets where your phone number is your identity. This is especially handy in mobile-first regions like MEA.
Truecaller also has high penetration in key markets. It is used on 20–45% of connected smartphones in Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Ghana, and Jordan .
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, highlighted sustained investment and organic adoption as major catalysts in the region .
You can get Truecaller for free on both Android and iOS. The app has additional features that are available through a subscription with pricing details varying fby country. In Kenya for example, subscription starts at Ksh 149 ($1.15) per month.
Truecaller particularly shines in Africa’s urban settings where mobile devices are central to both personal and business communication. In regions like Kenya or Nigeria, where trust and caller recognition matter, the brand has become almost synonymous with safe calling.
