Sophos has announced that it plans to open a new data center in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of the year. This will see the company deepen its regional investment to with the UAE’s ambition to become a global digital hub.

This facility will be hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the UAE. It is set to provide cloud-native security solutions to local organizations and also offer better performance, regulatory compliance, and enhanced data sovereignty. This is particularly important for the government, finance, and healthcare sectors that have strict data privacy and residency requirements.

“This launch reflects our mission to defend organizations of all sizes against inevitable cyberattacks with unmatched expertise and adaptive defenses,” said Gerard Allison, SVP of EMEA Sales at Sophos. “By bringing local infrastructure to the UAE, we’re delivering on our vision of enabling every organization to achieve superior cybersecurity outcomes.”

The launch offers three main benefits for UAE-based organizations:

    • Data Sovereignty – By hosting data locally, Sophos will ensure compliance with regional laws and industry-specific mandates.
    • Faster Performance – With reduced latency and improved responsiveness, customers using Sophos Central and other cloud-based solutions are guaranteed  smoother and faster experience.
    • Mission-Critical Readiness – The infrastructure is designed to meet the needs of enterprise and public sector environments, with high availability and strong security controls.

Sophosl also plans support regional partners allowing them to offer in-country data hosting. This should help them  stay compliant with local regulatory frameworks. As cyber threats grow in both complexity and frequency, this gives partners a chance to be central to modern security strategies.

“This expansion supports our strategy of democratizing cybersecurity, leveraging AI and automation, and empowering our partners to scale securely,” added Allison.

The UAE data center complements this legacy by ensuring that cloud-first, AI-driven cybersecurity solutions are underpinned by locally-hosted infrastructure, aligning technology with the region’s digital transformation goals.
