Bolt has announced the rollout of a Flight Tracking feature that syncs with your flight details when scheduling a ride from the airport. Witn this feature,  delays, cancellations or early arrivals don’t leave you stranded or overcharged.

With this new update, Bolt will automatically adjust your scheduled pick-up time based on your actual flight status. If your flight is delayed, your ride pick-up is rescheduled accordingly. If it’s canceled, the ride gets canceled too at no extra cost.

“With Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, our private and Bolt Business customers can now sync their flight details when scheduling a ride to pick them up from the airport,” said Dimmy Kanyankole, General Manager for Bolt in Kenya and Tanzania. “That means they can spend as little time at the airport as possible with guaranteed rides on arrival, even at off-peak or busy hours.”

    How Bolt’s Flight Tracking feature

Booking a flight-tracked ride is simple:

    1. Tap the ‘Schedule’ button on the Bolt home screen.
    2. You then set your arrival airport as the pickup point and then choose your destination.
    3. Tap ‘Add flight details’ and select your airline, flight number, departure city, and landing date.
    4. Choose how many minutes after landing you would like to be picked up.
    5. Bolt will monitor your flight and automatically adjust your pick-up times.

Bolt’s move to integrate flight tracking is the latest in a series of updates to make airport travel more convenient. Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is one of over 30 airports globally where Bolt is an official ride-hailing partner. This means passengers can get a ride directly from Arrivals. This helps eliminate detours or confusing pick-up points that airports are known for. .

Bolt has also rolled out airport-specific features like:

    • In-app directions with photos to guide users from the terminal to the Bolt pick-up point.
    • Branded pick-up zones for easier visibility.
    • At select airports like Kotoka in Accra, users get pick-up codes that match them with the next available driver, minimizing wait time.
