Visa Appoints Victor Makere as New Country Manager for Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda

Visa has appointed Victor Makere as Country Manager for Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda. Victor will be at the helm of Visa’s strategic efforts across these key East African markets in his new role. He will be responsible in driving the adoption of digital payment solutions and deepening client relationships.

Victor has experience in digital financial services, mobile money, and strategic partnerships. His role will include managing a broad client portfolio, driving revenue growth for both Visa and its partners, and handling initiatives that promote financial inclusion and innovation.

Commenting on the appointment, Chad Pollock, Vice President and General Manager for East Africa at Visa, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Victor to the Visa East Africa leadership team. With his distinguished track record in digital financial services, merchant acquiring, and strategic business development, we look forward to his significant contributions to Visa’s efforts to enhance financial inclusion and expand digital commerce across Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda.”

Victor previously served as Head of Merchant Payments at Airtel Money Tanzania where he led efforts to expand mobile and merchant payment ecosystems. He has also held senior leadership roles at CRDB Bank and Standard Chartered Bank in Tanzania, where he played a critical part in digital banking transformations. At CRDB, he worked through the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA) to drive the adoption of interoperable digital payment systems across the financial sector.
