What Is Spotify’s AI Playlist?

AI Playlist is a beta feature on Spotify that allows Premium users to create playlists using natural language prompts. Whether you want “Afrobeat tracks to heat up the dance floor” or “chill songs for a rainy Nairobi evening,” Spotify uses AI to build a playlist that fits your mood, activity, or even emojis you use.

It uses your listening habits, favorite genres and artists to generate playlists that feel personalized.

How to Access AI Playlist on Spotify

To use the feature, all you have to do is

  1. Open Spotify app on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Tap “Your Library” at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Tap the “+” button in the top-right corner.
  4. Select “AI Playlist.”
  5. Choose a suggested prompt or type your own.
  6. Spotify will generate a playlist based on your input.
  7. Refine it using feedback like “add newer songs” or “make it more upbeat.”
  8. Hit “Create” to save it to Your Library.

Spotify confirmed that the AI Playlist feature is now live for Premium users in Kenya and 40+ other countries, including markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. It’s still in beta and only supports English prompts for now, but improvements are expected as Spotify collects user feedback.
