Kijani Supplies, a sustainable logistics and supply chain tech company, has been awarded a Silver Badge in the “Local Sourcing” category at the WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards 2025, held in Cape Town.

This award recognizes Kijani’s leadership in local sourcing, one of the critical pillars of responsible tourism. Being a venture of Purple Elephant Ventures (PEV), Kijani is part of an ecosystem of regenerative tourism startups that are reimagining the future of travel and hospitality across Africa.

“This recognition is a powerful validation of the mission that drives us every day,” said Mwangi Muriuki, CEO, at Kijani Supplies. “We believe procurement is not just about products—it’s about building a smarter, greener, more inclusive supply chain that powers regeneration across Africa’s hospitality industry.”

Kijani was started to solve the procurement challenges lodges, camps and hotels face. This is especially true for those located in remote destinations. Kijani offers a one-stop, tech-powered platform that provides reliable access to locally sourced, eco-friendly, and high-quality supplies. From biodegradable toiletries to energy-efficient kitchenware, Kijani’s offering reduces operational waste while boosting efficiency and impact.

Through strategic partnerships with vetted local suppliers, Kijani ensures competitive pricing and promotes equitable growth for small businesses, turning procurement into a catalyst for social, economic, and environmental regeneration.

“This award underscores our commitment to not only serving our clients more efficiently but also strengthening the communities and ecosystems that make African tourism so unique,” added Mwangi.

The WTM Responsible Tourism Awards celebrate tourism businesses and organizations that are making a meaningful difference by addressing sustainability challenges through innovation, accountability, and impact. Kijani’s selection reflects its growing influence as a key player shaping sustainable hospitality in Africa.

As Kijani expands its footprint across Kenya, it remains committed to being more than a vendor—a true strategic procurement partner for the future of hospitality.
