Joy Vipinchandra Bhatt of Moore JVB Consulting has been appointed to oversee the operations of Lipa Later Limited, a digital consumer credit provider.

In a notice by Moore JVB, Bhatt has assumed control of Lipa Later’s business, assets and management affairs on March 24, 2025. This means that all matters related to the company should be directed to him or other authorized representatives.

The notice read in part, “Pursuant to Section 563 (2) (b) of the Insolvency Act 2015 of Kenya, notice is hereby given that effective 24th March 2025, Joy Vipinchandra Bhatt of Moore JVB Consulting LLP has been appointed as an Administrator (‘The Administrator’) of Lipa Later Limited (‘The Company’).”

Current Lipa Later directors no longer have authority to transact on behalf of the company. The notice clarified this saying they can’t do so unless explicitly approved by the administrator. Lipa Later creditors have been advised to submit the full particulars of their claims against the company before April 23, 2025.

Lipa Later has been one of the leading Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) platforms in Kenya. The startup was founded in 2018 and has raised over $16 Million (over Ksh 2 Billion) with the most recent one being a grant of $100,000 it got in October 2024. In January 2022, the startup raised over $12 in a seed round comprising of both equity and debt.

With fresh capital, Lipa Later expanded operations and even went ahead to invest Ksh 250 Million in struggling e-commerce platform SkyGarden. The new SkyGarden platform was to offer payment solutions, logistic support, marketing tools, and business insights. Lipa Later envisioned becoming Africa’s most expansive credit, payments, and shopping platform through this strategic investment. SkyGarden nevr really became a household name even with the fresh capital injection.
