Showmax announced the prices for Showmax 2.0 which is expected to in early February. The Showmax packages pricing start from Ksh 300 for the most affordable package to ksh 1,000 for the most expensive package. You will be able to pay for Showmax through Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, DStv Add to Bill (where DStv subscribers can add Showmax to their account at a reduced cost or no extra cost for Premium subs), vouchers and M-Pesa.
The new Showmax is a result of the partnership between MultiChoice, Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Sky. Through this partnership, Showmax will have access to NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming platform and its content.
Just like its predecessor, Showmax packages include a mobile-only packages and packages accessible through any device. There is also a package specifically made for English Premier League fans. The mobile-only Premier League package is available in Kenya for only Ksh 500. This is affordable, but keep in mind that it only gives access to Premier League matches and not any other football matches like La Liga etc.
Showmax has also added support for 1080p streaming up from 720p. We still do not have access to 4K streaming even though the platform it runs on, Peacock, does support 4K streaming. This option may come at a later date depending on how people use Showmax.

Does Showmax show Premier League on TV?
No, you can only watch Premier League matches on Showmax on a smartphone or tablet. This is available starting from Ksh 500 for the Showmax Premier League package or with Entertainment + PL package. With all these packages, football is only available on mobile. The reason for this may be that Showmax (which is part of the multiChoice Group) still wants those who want to watch on TV to subscribe to DStv Premium.

- Select the once off payment option.
- M-Pesa as a payment method will be displayed.
- Enter your M-PESA Mobile number for the payment.

Showmax mobile premier league provides access to all EPL matches, match highlights, behind-the-scenes content etc. This package is available for Ksh 500 per month and is only available on mobile.
Is Showmax better than Netflix?
Not really. Even though Showmax is a decent streaming platform, Netflix tends to have more shows and better streaming quality and overall faster and more forgiving if you have a slower internet connection. Showmax is perfect if you want content made in Africa.
