GA Insurance Limited has announced the introduction of GA Eco Drive Cover in Kenya. This comprehensive insurance product is tailored exclusively for electric vehicles, including E-bikes, and is set to address the unique risks faced by the emerging E-Mobility ecosystem in Kenya.

The adoption of electric vehicles in Kenya has been steadily rising, with a remarkable 108% increase in electric vehicle sales during the 2022-2023 financial year. In alignment with the Government of Kenya’s plans, which aim to have 5% of registered vehicles as EVs by 2025, GA Insurance’s innovative product comes at a crucial time.

One of the standout features of the GA Eco Drive Cover is its distinction as one of the world’s first insurance products to achieve Carbon Neutral Certification status. The product underwent rigorous assessment by independent experts and relies on high-quality Carbon Credits sourced from projects within Kenya. This not only emphasizes GA’s commitment to local communities but also aligns with Kenya’s National Determined Contribution (NDC) target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 32% by 2030.

In line with the global theme of sustainability, the GA Eco Drive Cover represents a bold step in the insurance industry. It embraces the principles of the UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, fostering further dialogue and cooperation among key stakeholders.
