Are you looking for a new smartphone under 20k? Smartphone prices have been going up over the past several months but you can still get a good and reliable phone. In this article, I will highlight some of the top 5 phones that I think will serve you well if your budget is under 20,000. I have included a link to the ecommerce platforms where you can get each of the phones listed here.

When compiling this list, I noticed that 5000 mAh seems to be the standard battery size for these phones. They also tend to have displays around 6.5 to 6.7 inches. Some have a 90Hz refresh rate while others do not. MediaTek seems to be the dominant processor for these phones with 4GB of RAM.

I have reviewed some of the phones listed here and included a link to the review under each if you want to read more about them.

Another good smartphone you can get in Kenya for less than 20k is the Xiaomi Redmi 12C. You can get this phone in the country starting from Ksh 19,300 which is reasonable considering what the phone has to offer. This price is for the 4GB variant which is the one I would recommend. There is a 3GB version available for a cheaper price but I wouldn’t recommend that in 2023.

This is the successor to the A17 that was quite a good phone for its price. The phone is available for Ksh 19,499 on Jumia for the 4GB variant with 128GB of storage.

    Samsung Galaxy A04

Even though Samsung isn’t that aggressive when it comes to this price segment, I believe the Galaxy A04 is still a decent phone you can get for under 20k. If you have a bit more cash, you can even get the Galaxy A04S which is available starting from Ksh 20,500. You can get the 4GB variant of the Galaxy A04 for Ksh 19,300. Have a look at the specs below to decide if this price is worth it.
