Safaricom has announced a revamp of its 4G Wi-Fi proposition to reduce router prices and introduce new daily allocation packages for its home customers as an alternative to the fibre service. The move is aimed at enabling more Kenyans to access reliable, flexible and affordable connectivity while at home.

Under the new plan, new customers will enjoy KES 4,000 off 4G Wi-Fi routers and receive a free 30GB welcome bundle. All customers will also enjoy new daily allocation packages that empower customers who opt-in to receive data daily, guaranteeing connection throughout the month.

How Much is Safaricom 4G Wi-Fi Per Month?

The daily allocation bundles offers all at a speed of 5Mbps and with a validity of 30 days are as follows:

    • 105 GB (3.5GB awarded daily) for KES 2,999
    • 150 GB (5GB awarded daily) for KES 4,100
    • 240 GB (8GB awarded daily) for KES 6,299
    • 540 GB (18GB awarded daily) for KES 12,499

Safaricom’s 4G covers over 97% of Kenya’s population, meaning that customers can enjoy 4G Wi-Fi by simply acquiring a router and sim card at any Safaricom Shop or dealer outlet. Customers can also visit internet.safaricom.co.ke or dial *400*49# to get connected.

The reduced prices will see customers enjoy up to 40% off on routers, with Adrian routers now retailing for KES 5,999, down from KES 9,999, while Huawei routers will retail at KES 6,999 down from KES 10,999.

“4G Wi-Fi represents a great choice for data users, giving them access to seamless, flexible, and reliable connectivity while at home. It leverages our extensive 4G coverage to supplement our nationwide fibre network as we continue to enable Kenyans to enjoy a digital lifestyle by making the service more affordable,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO – Safaricom PLC.

How do I buy Safaricom Router Bundles?

To purchase plans or manage their accounts, customers can visit MySafaricom App, Safaricom.com, or dial *400#, select option 3 – “4G Wi-Fi” and follow the prompts. Payment options include M-PESA, Post-pay, or Bonga points.

4G Wi-Fi was introduced in 2019 to enable Kenyans not in fibre-ready areas to enjoy seamless internet connectivity in their homes. It complements Safaricom’s fibre network, which has passed more than 450,000 homes and businesses.

The move by Safaricom to revamp its 4G Wi-Fi proposition is a welcome one, especially for Kenyans living in areas not covered by the fibre network. With the reduced prices and daily allocation packages, more Kenyans will be able to access reliable and affordable connectivity while at home.

Customers who opt-in to receive data daily can be assured of guaranteed connection throughout the month. The daily allocation bundles are reasonably priced, making them accessible to most customers. The reduced prices on routers are also a plus, as customers will be able to save up to 40%.

To get connected to Safaricom’s 4G Wi-Fi, customers can simply visit any Safaricom Shop or dealer outlet to acquire a router and sim card. They can also visit internet.safaricom.co.ke or dial *400*49# to get connected. The various payment options available, including M-PESA, Post-pay, or Bonga points, make it easy for customers to purchase plans or manage their accounts.
