Is TikTok going to be the New Netflix?

TikTok has been undergoing significant adjustments for many weeks. Paid services are now available on the social network, allowing users to access unique content.

TikTok, which began as a primary video-sharing platform, has evolved. Indeed, the Chinese company is now experimenting with paid subscriptions for a select group of content providers with more than 1000 subscribers.

Users may then pay a little money to access other benefits such as a particular chat room, badges, and emotes. In addition, the platform is looking into the realms of film and television programs.

Those who may be behind the Chinese platform announced an extraordinary experiment on its app last week. Users may obtain access to the documentary series Finding Jericho for Ksh 560. The first two (30-minute) episodes are free, but the other six can only be seen by placing your hand on your wallet. Every Tuesday and Thursday, a new episode is released.

If this endeavour proves to be a success, we may see TikTok purchasing or even generating original fiction in the future. This year, TikTok announced a collaboration with the famous Cannes Film Festival to encourage its users to make short films.
