1 Billion is a lot of devices, and Apple is proud to have achieved the magic number. In an earning’s call, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook said there are over 1 billion active iPhones globally, a milestone that was a long time coming after the company sold its one billionth iPhone in 2016.

The last time apple provided an update of its iPhone usage numbers was in January 2019. At the time, the company reported it had surpassed the 900 million mark. According to a company spokesperson, the company’s number includes the number of iPhones that have interacted with its servers in the past 90 days.

Meanwhile, the number of total active Apple devices, including iPads, Macs, and wearables, currently stands at 1.65 billion devices.

The company revealed the mind-blowing numbers amid the release of its fiscal 2021 first-quarter earnings. Apple’s quarterly revenue, for the first time, surpassed $100 Billion.

Revenue from iPhones, wearables, and Services division reached an all-time high helping the company post a record revenue of $111.4 billion, up 21 percent year over year.

“Our December quarter business performance was fueled by double-digit growth in each product category, which drove all-time revenue records in each of our geographic segments and an all-time high for our installed base of active devices,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO.

Apple’s new figures give us a look at how consumers have received the company’s latest iPhone 12 series. According to the latest data from research firm Canalys, Apple shipped 81.8 million iPhones in the three ended December 31st, 2020, the highest ever in a single quarter. Canalys data also shows Apple shipped the most smartphones than any other smartphone maker.

The impressive iPhone sales follow Apple’s release of the iPhone 12 series in October, its first 5G-powered iPhones. It was the first time the company announced four different devices in its flagship iPhone, including a budget iPhone 12 mini starting at only $699, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Canalys says the iPhone 12 series was a hit.
