Google Productivity Suite, G Suite, Rebranded to Google Workspace

Google Workspace

Google has rebranded its productivity suite to Google Workspace. Formerly known as G-Suite, Google Workspace still includes Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and other Google apps. And G Suite wasn’t the name from the get-go, too. Google’s productivity suite was formerly known as Google Apps.

Announcing the news in a blog post, the company says the rebrand is part of their plan to solve problems facing people working from home.

“Whether you’re returning to the office, working from home, on the frontlines with your mobile device, or connecting with customers, Google Workspace is the best way to create, communicate, and collaborate,” the company says.

According to the company, the rebrand introduces a new, deeply integrated user experience, a new brand identity, and new ways to get started.

Google apps have had their logos overhauled, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Keep, Calendar, and everything else. The new logos are colorful, consisting of either all or some colors under the Google brand. For instance, Gmail now has a colorful M carrying all the Google brand colors.

In an attempt to envision the future of work, Google, at its Next OnAir event in July, introduced new feature improvements on its core applications. Google pooled together core tools for chat and communication in one single location, which is Gmail.

Now Google Workspace users can chat, email, call via voice and video through a single location, and access content management and collaboration tools. All of these now revolves around Gmail.

Google plans to integrate its products more in the future.
