Huawei has announced that its latest smartphone, the Huawei Y9a, is now available on pre-order in kenya. This is the most recent one from the company and will be available in stores as from the 1st of October.

The Huawei Y9a pre-order period will run all the way to 30th September and customers can take part in it through Jumia and Huawei retail outlets countrywide.

Pre-orders can be done by paying Ksh 2,000 deposit at a participating outlet. Those who pre-order the Y9a will be getting a free Powerbank from Huawei. Huawei is yet to officially reveal the price of the Y9a in Kenya but we will know that soon.

Have a look at the unboxing video below.

Speaking of the pre-order Huawei Mobile Country Head said, “We are encouraging our consumers to visit our retail stores and get to interact with our latest device ahead of its availability in the market as of 1st October. We are giving you a chance to own a device that has great performance and stunning good looks if the specifications is anything to go by. Our strategy this year is to place Huawei Devices to as many consumers as possible and ensuring that we remain top of mind when it comes to best smartphones in Kenya and world over.”

Just like all the new smartphones from Huawei, the Y9a does not come with Google services but the company is still confident that it can push through without that. We have seen a handful of its devices launch in Kenya without Google Services and they are usable for the better part. You do not get access to Google Play Store and some Google applications but there are workarounds to address these.

For apps, Huawei has its own AppGallery and if the app you want is not listed there, there are other third party app stores such as APK Pure that will have almost all the apps available on the Play Store. For the Google apps, you can use the web version via the Huawei browser which comes with some of the main ones bookmarked already to help you get started easily.
