LG is planning to add support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support on some 2018 TVs. The update comes from LG UK’s official Twitter account.

AirPlay 2 support arriving on select 2018 LG TVs will enable iPhone and iPad users to stream content from their devices to their TVs easily. At the same time, HomeKit support acts as a link between a compatible TV and Apple’s smart home ecosystem.

More details about AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for LG’s 2018 TVs will be released later, but the update will start rolling out “later this year.”

Customers worldwide can now enjoy the Apple TV app on LG 2018 OLED and Super UHD TVs, with UHD TV models to follow. LG's 2018 TVs will add support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit later this year, and more details will be shared when these features become available

Besides, LG says that Apple TV is now available worldwide on their 2018 OLED and Super UHD TVs. 2018 LG UHD models will receive the update next, although no specific dates have been provided.

Questions on whether the company will update their 2018 TVs with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit emerged last week, after a tweet which has since been deleted. The now-deleted tweet read, “LG has no plans to update its pre-2019 TVs with AirPlay 2 or Homekit unfortunately.”(via macrumours)

Initially, LG had planned to update select 2018 models with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support by October. The list included “SK” and”UK” LED sets, as well as all OLED models from “B8” through “Z8”.
